Truth and Reconciliation is more than words. They must be equaled with action. As a means of acknowledging the land and people where we are privileged to live and work, we sought out the wisdom of  Lynn Gehl, an Algonquin Anishinaabe-kwe from the Ottawa River Valley. Burning Passions Theatre's Playwrights Circle reading workshop series continued this week with a new work by Jessie Bergeron, "Take Me to Church.".

Gabe's synopsis: "After years as a stay-at-home mom, Mo has returned to get her Master's degree. Along with her supervisor, Oni, and research assistant, May, she has developed a ceremony for a new, female-centric church. With the thesis presentation just around the corner, tensions run high and theoretical arguments take a personal turn. Content note: explicit discussions of sexuality, including same-sex relations; strong language and swearing; examination of the Catholic religion."

Those taking part in the workshop included (left to right) playwrights Elle Attson and Michael MacLean, performers Angela Pelly, Kai Ileleji and Emma Iris, playwright Jessie Bergeron, and dramaturge/director Laurel Smith
