Land Acknowledgement
Truth and Reconciliation is more than words. They must be equaled with action. As a means of acknowledging the land and people where we are privileged to live and work, we sought out the wisdom of Lynn Gehl, an Algonquin Anishinaabe-kwe from the Ottawa River Valley. Scenes from 2015 Perth through the Ages
The Maid and the Merchant is a theatrical historic walking tour that tells tales of Perth’s 200 years, with a talented cast including Sean Jacklin, Vivian Masswohl, Morgan MacDonald, Emily Richardson and Ann Stewart. Members of the Classic Theatre Festival’s youth theatre training program, they play a variety of roles, from the servant girl Ann Glascott, who was the focus of an early town scandal, and town scion Roderick Matheson, to Bathurst Courier publisher Malcolm Cameron, along with Colonel and Mary McMillan. The family-friendly tour runs Wednesday to Sunday at 11 am until August 30, with tickets available at classictheatre.ca or 1-877-283-1283, or at the Matheson House Museum at 11 Gore Street East one hour before the tour.
